Tammuz 19 , 5562 / Tammuz 19 , 5597
Father's Name: Yaakov Yitzchok Horowitz
Rav Yisroel Horowitz of Lublin zt"l
Son of Rav Yaakov Yitzchok Horowitz, the Chozeh of Lublin
The Chiddushei HaRim of Ger testified that Rav Yisroel did not need his father’s yichus since he was a mesechta – a tractate all his own!
He married Chanah, the daughter of Rav Dovid who was the brother of Rav Moshe of Pshevorsk, author of Ohr Pnei Moshe.
After his father’s passing, many Chassidim wished to crown him as successor, yet he adamantly refused.
He passed away 19 Tammuz תקס''ב (others say after תקצ''ז 1837).
His sons were:
Rav Dovid Kopel, Rav Shmuel Yeshaya, Rav Zisha, and Rav Kalonymous Kalman.
His sons- in- law were:
Rav Emanuel of Pshedburz and Rav Aharon of Cracow.
